It’s take a Trip Tuesday. Do you know how to hire a professional moving company?
Hi, my name is Kristina Smallhorn, Your real estate whisperer for Ascension Parish. And moving can be super stressful. And not finding the right moving company could be even worse. This video will show you five great tips to help you find the perfect moving company at the right price.
The summer months for moving is the highest traffic time for any moving company. So you’re going to want to make sure you book your moving company right away. Soon as you have a closing date and it’s pretty firm, and you’ve had it confirmed with the title company, Go ahead and schedule your moving company because you don’t want to be delayed and you want to make sure that you get a moving company that you trust right away.
I’m going to be giving you some tips on how to find a trusted moving company so follow me.
There’s two websites. I’m going to want you to check out when you’re looking for a moving company. fmcsa.dot.gov/protect-your-move That’s going to be one great resource for you to find a proper moving company for you. The other one I want you to check is the Better Business Bureau. Everybody knows that everybody gets these kinds of grain, So you’re looking for those A grades, and I want you to read those reviews. Also Google has some really great reviews of moving companies so you’re hiring the best one for you.
When you’ve found your moving company, and if you’ve searched the websites and you looked in the Better Business Bureau, you’re going to want to ask one more question of the moving company. Why do they charge for things like bubble wrap, extra boxes, extra moving tape, and moving blankets. A lot of times you have this quote that you think your cost is only going to be so much money, and then that all your items get on the truck, and they tack on all this extra stuff for moving blankets, bubble wrap. boxes. tape, and you weren’t expecting that. so make sure you have a list of how much they charge for those extra things.
it brings me to another point I wanted to make. Sometimes cheaper doesn’t always mean better. so when you get these original quotes, you’re going to really want to double-check to make sure that even though the quote may be the cheapest it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best.
Two more tips I want to give you. I know that ends up being six tipes, but this will help. first is when you go and buy packing supplies, you want to check to see where are the best places are going to be. If you’re not going to have the moving company actually pack you up, you’re going to want to buy these kinds of things that I talked about earlier. I found that Walmart has very inexpensive packing supplies, Home Depot does, as well, and so does U-Haul. And not only that, You can always call the grocery stores or any business that might be breaking down their boxes. They’re more than happy to get rid of them ’cause they don’t want to have to dispose of them either. Grocery stores seem to be a little stricter about it, but a lot of local businesses will give you their old boxes and packing peanuts.
So go ahead and call round first before you go out and buy packing supplies because you might even get them for free. my last little bonus tip, You’re going to want make a checklist of all the moving companies that you talked to and keep it all in the folder, and when you put that checklist together, put the Pro’s and Con’s of each one of those moving companies, so you can pick out the best ones.
